Attendees are expected to participate in the full 2.5 day experience of glazing/wadding, loading, firing, unloading, and tidying up the kiln area/studio for the next firing. Throwing Oil Bottles (On-Demand Workshop)
Oil bottles are one of my favorite forms to throw because they follow a few general guidelines, but no two ever come out exactly the same. They’re a great example of a form that feels functional, rewarding, and full of personality.

In this on-demand workshop, I walk through how I approach throwing oil bottles for olive oil, vinegar, dressings, or even dish soap. I also cover many of the common issues I’ve run into after making hundreds, and probably thousands, of them over the years.

You’ll learn about:
  • Shapes and proportions that tend to work best
  • How to properly fit a pourer spout
  • Common causes of leaking and how to avoid them
  • Collaring techniques
  • General throwing tips for making them more efficiently
This workshop is a great fit for potters who want to build more confidence with bottle forms and create a functional product that customers love.
